MyTakeHomeCalc ("we," "us," or "our") operates mytakehomecalc.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using MyTakeHomeCalc you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

  • Usage data. We use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect anonymized data about page views, session duration, and general geographic region. No personally identifiable information is attached to analytics data.
  • Calculator inputs. Numbers you enter into our calculators (salary, deductions, state, etc.) are processed entirely in your browser. We do not store or transmit your calculator inputs to our servers.
  • IP-based state detection.On page load we make an optional request to ipapi.co to detect your state for the state selector. No data from this request is stored by us. See ipapi.co's privacy policy for their practices.
  • Cookies. We use cookies for analytics. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time.

How we use your information

  • To provide and improve the MyTakeHomeCalc service
  • To understand how visitors use the site via aggregated analytics
  • To auto-detect your state for a better calculator experience (optional, fails silently)
  • To comply with legal obligations

Third-party services

MyTakeHomeCalc uses the following third-party services that may process data on our behalf:
  • Google Analytics (GA4) — anonymized usage analytics
  • Netlify — website hosting
  • ipapi.co — IP-based state detection (optional, no account required)
  • LinkedIn, Indeed, ZipRecruiter, TurboTax, Gusto, YNAB — affiliate partner referrals
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Affiliate disclosure

MyTakeHomeCalc participates in affiliate programs. When you click through to partner sites (job boards, tax software, budgeting tools), we may receive a commission at no cost to you. This does not influence our calculator results or editorial content.

Data retention

We do not retain calculator input data. Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics default retention settings (14 months).

Your rights

For California residents, CCPA rights apply including the right to know, delete, and opt-out of sale (we do not sell data). For EEA/UK residents, GDPR rights apply. Contact us to exercise any rights.

Children's privacy

MyTakeHomeCalc is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of MyTakeHomeCalc after changes constitutes acceptance.
